Open Access Week 2019 is Here!

It’s that time of the year when the entire scholarly community gathers together to celebrate the International Open Access Week. This global event, now in its twelfth year, initially started as a partnership between students and the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC) in 2007. The aim of the Open Access Week is to inspire academic researchers to share their research freely and make open access a standard in the research community. This year, the event will take place from Oct 21 to 27 with the theme being “Open for Whom? Equity in Open Knowledge.” Based on the theme, the focus this time around will be on driving the importance of equality among different research groups within the community and helping them create new connections or conversations among each other in research.

Has the scientific world truly opened itself to Open Access?
