About the Panelists

Leslie D. McIntosh

VP, Research Integrity

Leslie D. McIntosh, PhD is the VP of Research Integrity at Digital Science and dedicates her work to improving research, reducing disinformation, and increasing trust in science. As an academic turned entrepreneur, she founded Ripeta in 2017 to improve research quality and integrity. Now part of Digital Science, the Ripeta algorithms lead in detecting Trust Markers of research manuscripts and nefarious networks in science. She works globally to improve research quality, integrity, and security through developing the forensic scientometrics discipline. She has given hundreds of talks, including to the US-NIH, NASA, and World Congress on Research Integrity, and consulted with the US, Canadian, and European governments. Dr. McIntosh’s work was the most-read RetractionWatch post of 2022. In 2023, her influential ideas on achieving equity in research were highlighted in the Guardian and Science.
Daniel Ucko

Head of Ethics and Research Integrity, American Physical Society

As Head of Ethics and Research Integrity, Daniel is responsible for maintaining a strong philosophy of ethics and integrity at the APS journals, and also represents the APS in research integrity spaces, including serving as an elected member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) council.

Daniel received his Ph.D. in physics in 2001 from University College London, UK. He went on to postdoctoral research position at the University of Birmingham, UK, and at the low-energy muon beam at the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland. In 2020, he received a Ph.D. in philosophy from Stony Brook University, on the subject of peer review.
Dr. Anupama Kapadia

Editor-in-Chief at Enago Academy

Dr. Anupama Kapadia is a licensed specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (Orthopedics) by qualification and a scholarly publishing professional by vocation. She currently heads various portfolios, including services and products related to medical communications, publication support, research integrity, and author training. With more than 15 years of experience and 10+ publications and posters, she also actively leads several projects related to fulfilling clients' requirements by enhancing the editorial, peer review systems, and author services at Enago. She is a member of and volunteers in professional associations such as ISMPP, MAPS, COPE, ISMTE, and EASE, which focus on networking and knowledge sharing within the community and help establish best practices among stakeholders. She is also an active member of the Peer Review Week and Open Access Week planning committees.
