Microorganism More Harmful Than MRSA and E.coli

Scientists believed that Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is one of the most dreaded microorganisms, along with E.coli. This is mainly because of their resistance to most of the antibiotics existing in medicine. Hence, their infection was treated with great difficulty. To add to the difficulties of the researchers, a new microorganism has been discovered by the scientists of the Milner Centre for Evolution at the University of Bath. This microorganism, present on the skin, reportedly has 61 genes (as discovered till date) that make it resistant to most of antibiotics available in the market. It was mostly isolated in people who suffered infections following hip or knee joint replacement and fracture fixation operations. Researchers think it is possibly a strain of S. epidermidis and they are yet to find a way of prevent this from affecting surgery patients.
