Course Description

In this course, we focus on the importance of review articles for researchers and how the approach to writing review articles should be different from that for original articles. We also focus on some important concepts related to review articles such as meta-analysis, PRISMA checklist, and PICO method. By attempting this course, a graduate student or an early-stage researcher will be able to understand the key differences between how review articles are written in comparison to an original article.

We will be focusing on the following aspects in this course:

  • Understanding how review articles gained importance in scientific research
  • Importance of PRISMA checklist and flowchart
  • Quality assessment in systematic reviews
  • Writing a review article

At the end of the course, students and researchers would have increased awareness of the following aspects: a) difference between systematic and narrative review, b) quality assessment in systematic reviews, and c) structuring of review articles.
